ON JUDGING...

“Only God can judge me.”  I saw that line on a t-shirt, and I pondered its implications.   I sometimes find myself others before I know all the facts.  Often I discover how wrong I was in my assumptions.

There; I said it; I confess my sin before God and you.  Help me; Deliver me O’ Lord from that judgmental spirit!  I’m reminded of what the Apostle Paul said in 1Corinthians 4:5, “Therefore judge nothing before the time; until the Lord come, who both will bring to light, the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the heart: and then shall every man have praise of God.”

Only God knows why people do and say what they do and say.  Only God knows the true background story.  He knows the scars and pains people bear.  He knows the motives, the hurts, the frustrations and struggles endured by many.  We only see the outward appearance; God sees the heart.

Even Jesus said, “ Judge not, that ye be not judged; for with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged; and what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matthew 7: 12)

Help me O’ Lord to keep my negative thoughts and ideas off of people.  You are the only true Judge, and when you judge at that appointed time, you will pronounce the sentence with fairness and equality.  Praise your Wonderful Name now and forevermore!

Scriptures:  1Corinthians 9:5,  Matthew 7:1-2

Prayer:  Lord, help me in this area I pray.

Thought:  God is the True Judge.

Application: Love others, for love covers a multitude of faults.
