11-Year Old Boy Sacrificed His Life To Save His Sister
Last week, in Chester, South Carolina, while waiting for the bus, 11-year old La'Darious Tyres Wylie jumped in front of a car pushing his younger sister, 7-year old Sha'Vonta, out of the way. The woman driving the car, Michelle Johnson age 57, did not stop or call for help after hitting La'Darious. According to the police the little boy's head was smashed so badly that it left 'severe damage' to the driver's 2003 Nissan. La'Darious died the next day at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The driver was charged on Thursday with a felony hit and run resulting in death and was released the next day after posting her $25,000 bond.
The people within La'Darious's community as well as the public were devastated after hearing his heroic story and began a gofundme campaign to assist with the cost of the funeral and family expenses. The goal of the campaign was to raise $20,000 and by Friday morning nearly $50,000 had been raised.
La'Darious's family thanks everyone for their donations and their support. La'Darious's mother decided to donate his organs so that her son would have the chance to save another child's life.
The people of Chester City are now pushing to change the name of the the city's Brooklyn Park in honor or La'Darious, as he played there his entire life.
Our prayers go out to La'Darious's family.
