Rachel Dolezal admits she was born white, ‘The Real’ studio audience erupts in applause
Monday, the former president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP appeared on The Real sharing her usual rhetoric about why she should be accepted as a black woman despite having two biological white parents.
Unfortunately for Dolezal, all the co-hosts of the show are women of color, and three are black. Loni Love and Tamar Braxton in particular were blunt in their questions and made it clear they were not going to let the African studies teacher off the hook.
Jeannie Mai appeared to be the one to crack Dolezal’s veneer when she very plainly pointed out, “You weren’t born black, so when you say you are black, it makes it hard for people to understand where you’re coming from.”
“Right, and that’s why I said, I acknowledge that I was biologically born white to white parents, but I identify as black,” said Dolezal. As soon as those words escaped her lips, the audience erupted into applause; some even going as far as to give a standing ovation and cheer.
