If you ever thought rocking a wheelchair through airport customs gave you a pass to pack whatever you want, guess again!

Yoncela Stanley was detained by Customs and Border Protection officials on Sunday after a K9 sniffed out 27 pounds of cocaine hidden in her wheelchair at New York’s JFK Airport. Stanley, an American citizen, flew into JFK from St. Lucia thinking she and her wheelchair would get overlooked by Customs, but the joke was on her.

The K9 alerted officials that his drug sensors were going off, and it was then that authorities noticed “the back seat cushion of her wheel chair looked strange and probed it,” according to NY Pix 11 News.

Stanley’s 27 pounds of coke included six bricks and two clear bags of cocaine, which is worth nearly $500,000 on the street - $468,000 to be exactly, reports TMZ.

“This latest seizure demonstrates the vigilance of our CBP officers, and their excellence in detecting those who would try to smuggle these illegal substances,” said Leon Hayward, Acting Director, Field Operations New York.

After being detained in JFK Airport, Stanley was turned over to Homeland Security, and has since been charged with federal narcotics smuggling after her arraignment in Brooklyn Federal Court. She was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
