New allegations have surfaced about Temptations’ second lead singer Dennis Edwards. The 74-year-old passed away due to complications with meningitis. However, adult protective services investigator report that Edwards was “physically assaulted before death by his wife, Brenda.”
Police say it is unclear whether or not his death is connected to the allegations, but detectives are investigating. NY Daily News reports:
"Brenda allegedly tried to suffocate her husband of nearly two decades by holding his head face down on a bed, according to documents obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
She also reportedly took her husband's hearing aids away from him while he was "bed bound and immobile," according to the protection request, reportedly filed by an investigator with the Healthcare Consortium of Illinois.
The emergency order was reportedly granted Jan. 18, six days after Edwards was taken out of the Chicago home he shared with Brenda due to medical problems."
Brenda released a statement, calling the claims “false and defamatory”:
"I loved Dennis, and we were married for 18 years. I would have never done anything to harm him. These allegations are false and defamatory and will be proven as such. Until this is all over, I have no further comment."
