First Lady to open Anna Wintour Costume Center at Metropolitan Museum of Art

First Lady Michelle Obama’s visit to the city next month promises to be a cut above.

Obama will be in Manhattan on May 5 to cut the ribbon, in style, on the Costume Institute’s new Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Wintour is editor-in-chief of Vogue — the magazine that dubbed Obama “The First Lady of Fashion.”

he gallery recently completed two years of renovations. The first display in the Center will be “Charles James: Beyond Fashion,” featuring dozens of the late designer’s ball gowns.

The First Lady is expected to speak at the 11 a.m. ceremony to an an audience including students from the Fashion Institute of Technology and the High School for the Fashion Industries.
