At least 12 injured, including several kids, after school bus crashes in California

At least 12 people, including 11 children, were injured Thursday after a school bus crashed into several trees in Anaheim Hills, Calif., police said.

Nine of those hurt were “walking wounded” while three suffered critical trauma injuries, an Anaheim Fire and Rescue spokeswoman told KTLA-TV.

Two of those critically injured were students at El Rancho Charter School. The driver was also in critical condition. Five students and the driver were hospitalized.

The long yellow bus left Nohl Ranch Road near the Anaheim Hills Golf Course and knocked over one tree before coming to rest against a second. The bus is badly damaged, nearly cracked down the middle, images from the scene show.

The bus driver, among those badly injured, was removed from the front of the bus by several firefighters and taken to a local hospital around 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
