Direct My Goals

In 2010, I got frustrated over a major repair and hurriedly decided to put my house on the market. I received little to no interest. I eventually let the realtor contract expire and moved onto other projects.

At the end of 2013, in the midst of a valley, I asked God to direct my goals for 2014.  Again, selling my house was on the top of the list but it felt different this time. I had prayed about it and believed with all my heart that God led me to this decision, specifically at this moment in time. This time, I set a timeline of closing before the end of June.  I aIso chose a new realtor and began the process of preparation and listing.

Within hours of posting, my first appointment was scheduled and they continued steadily for the next few weeks. In less than 30 days, I received two cash offers within 24 hours of each other. If that's not confirmation of my time, I don't know what it is!  I accepted the highest and best offer and made settlement earlier today. Yay!

While awaiting my closing date, I purged and packed. I mean I really  purged this time. Dozens of Goodwill bags, two truckloads to 1-800-GOT-JUNK and countless carloads to friends. Out with the old, more room for the new.

Just one year ago, I moved from a suburban house to a downtown apartment. Not only do I have a if fervent neighborhood, I have a different outlook on life. While downsizing material things, I was forced to lean on my spiritual foundation constantly reminding me of what's most important in my life.

I can't believe it's been five years since I began my initial journey. God used that time to poke, prune and prepare me. The journey taught me patience and perseverance. God delayed me but he did not deny me; he just waited until I was ready.

"I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry."(Psalm40:1, KJV)
