Waistline Wednesday FRESH PEAS
1 pound fresh peas, in pods
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
sea salt, to taste
white pepper, to taste
To remove the peas from the pod, snap off the stem end of the pod. Pull the string down, then press on the seam & pop it open. Slide your finger down the pod, pushing the peas out.
In a medium saucepan, bring 3-inches of water to a boil. Add the shelled peas, cover & simmer on low for 10 minutes.
Drain peas & stir in butter, sugar, salt & pepper.
