Fun Friday FRIED GREEN TOMATOES

4 green tomatoes, ½-inch thick slices
¼ cup flour
4 teaspoons sugar
sea salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon hot sauce
½ cup corn meal
1 cup safflower oil
1. In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt & pepper. Coat tomato slices with flour mixture
on both sides.
2. In another medium bowl, combine buttermilk & hot sauce. Dip the flour-coated tomato
slices into the buttermilk mixture. Lightly coat both sides with corn meal.
3. In a large heavy skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Place tomato slices in hot oil & fry
for 1 minute on each side. Place on a paper towel lined plate to soak up excess oil.
