#SupportThePuff Hashtag Goes Viral After Girl Suspended From School

Never in a million years would anyone have thought that suspension from school would come up by wearing your natural hair. That is exactly what happened to a group of girls last week who were suspended from CR Walker High School in Nassau, Bahamas, for wearing their natural hair that was dubbed "untidy, un-groomed, and unkempt hair.”

Tayjha Deleveaux, a student at CR Walker High School, was a victim of this discriminating behavior. Her mother posted to Facebook expressing her anger towards the situation with a photo captioned “What could possibly be wrong with this hairstyle?! She is a black child with thick natural hair!!!!” She also stated that her hairstyle does not affect her brain.

This controversy stirred up a serious social media uproar gaining supporters all on social media platforms such as Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with #SupportThePuff.

A petition has also been started by a student who supports the girls who were suspended for their hairstyle and hairbands that were against dress codes. The goal was to get 1,000 signatures and so far it's nearly doubled what they expected.
