GREAT HONOR: Harry Belafonte to receive prestigious humanitarian award

Harry Belafonte and Maureen O'Hara are among those who will be honored by the motion picture academy's board of governors.

This fall, Harry Belafonte is set to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the academy's sixth annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles. Actor-singer Belafonte, 87, is being recognized for his dedication to shedding light on racism and inequality worldwide, the academy said. Harry Belafonte is not only known for his great skills on screen but also his stance on civil rights and being apart of the movement. The sixth annual Governors Awards will take place on Nov. 8 in Los Angeles.
