CIRCLE OF SISTERS EXPO 2015 AT THE JAVITS CENTER, A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER!
This past weekend an event like no other took place at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, Circle of sisters 2015. The tri-state's largest expo for people of color, focusing on empowering women of color. This two day extravaganza, in it's 11th year, is sponsored by WBLS 107.5 FM, 1190 WLIB AM, HOT 97, and WQHT HOT 97 FM.
Event goers were treated to exclusive, intimate panel discussions, with celebrities like Bobby Brown, Jennifer Hudson and the Cast of The Color Purple, and the men of BET’s Being Mary Jane just to name a few. The breakout sessions were informative and inspiring, with special guest speakers from some of your favorite shows. Like actress Naturi Naughton, from the hit TV show Power, discussing the viewer’s shift from reality TV to drama series, to Paternity Court's Lauren Lake, discussing her climb to the top. Guests were also treated to surprise appearances from music artists like 50 Cent. The rapper and actor, had live impromptu performance with co-star, Rotimi, from the TV show Power, on the Hot97 performance stage. The HealthFirst Cooking Pavilion also provided a taste for every palate. Featuring a wide variety of delicious demonstrations from celebrity chefs including Bobby Brown, Pat Neely, Jeff Vaden, and host, Nikki Shaw. On Saturday night, concert goers jammed the night away at Circle of Sisters R&B Live, presented by MajorWorld, with performances by the legendary Chaka Khan, alongside R&B superstars Avant and Jaheim.
Sunday morning, WLIB’s Bishop Hezekiah Walker kicked the day off with a praise filled worship service, leaving attendees uplifted and ready for an amazing second day filled with panels, performances, and vendors offering everything under the sun. The entire EXPO closed out with the MetroPCS Gospel Explosion, where Tasha Cobbs, Tina Campbell,Casey J. and more brought the crowd to their feet and spirits even higher, with their soulful, inspirational voices.
All who attended were able to experience the magic that is Circle of Sisters. The two day event showcased live performances, exciting and informative panels, celebrity appearances, fashion show, and over 250 vendors and small businesses selling unique items and services, all weekend long. Circle of Sisters moving, changing, growing.
