Had a very nice talk with a buddy who has an unconventional way of thinking. I like that about him. He often helps me see things in a light from which I’d probably NEVER see them. I love having people in my circle like that. The world is so big and the possibilities so endless. We need a balance of like minded and unlike minded people in our lives to bring the right level of perspectiveness (yeah I know it ain’t a word….but it looked cool! Leave me alone!)
I’ve never wanted to be surrounded by “yes people”….people that only tell me what they think I want to hear. Sure, sometimes accepting a differing view is like swallowing a bitter pill. However if given in the proper vain, it can make you stronger.
But the key is HOW you express that opposing view. People are more apt to accept an opposing view if given as a CHOICE. In other words, don’t try forcing your position. The ultimate choice of acceptance or non-acceptance is still theirs.
Here is today’s thought
The secret of success in conversation is to be able to disagree without being disagreeable
